“ The food was great and the servers were all very friendly. I had the big fish sandwich and could not finish it; the best fish sandwich I've had in years. ”
“ Excellent service and seafood! Very busy place and I was glad I got there early. Restaurant is small but has outdoor seating. Menu is small too but it is quality items. ”
“ The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is good. The service is great. I have visited several times. ”
“ Today, I had a taste for a crab cake, so I took a ride down to Deadrise. I went at a great time because they were not busy at all. I was a party of 1 and seated right away. The server was attentive and my food came out very quickly. The fries were hot (heat not not spicy of course!) the crab cake still has a memorable flavor and chunks of crab. It was just a little small (didn't quite fill my bun) but filling. 4.5 STARS! As good as I remembered with heat service. Just wanted my crab cake a tad bigger but it's not enough to keep me from this place. I'll definitely be back! ”
“ We found ourselves at Fort Monroe around lunchtime and checked the map in the visitor center for a place to eat. This was the perfect spot! I had the fish tacos and my husband had the fried oyster basket. Topped off with Mango Cart and it was perfect. This place it exactly what you're looking for when near the water! As others have said- you need to go up the stairs but another customer said- it's worth the climb! ”
“ Wonderful dinner on a Friday evening! Delightful and friendly service with our waitress very willing to make suggestion from the menu and always bringing what we needed with a smile! The clam chowder was great - only complaint is that it came out with bread rather than oyster crackers - yet still tasty! Our party loved the Big Fish fried flounder sandwich (huge and delicious!), wonderful crab cake entree, and the Oyster Po Boy . Topped off with a vibrant and bustling dining room, outdoor seating overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, and a gorgeous sunset! Lovely choice for a seafood dinner! ”
“ It's a hidden gem. If you are checking out Fort Monroe and want great seafood, give this place a shot. It's on the pier and looks a little run down from the outside. I think it is just a little weathered. But it's well worth it. The place is small, and there is seating outside when the weather is nice. It's right off the water so that it can get windy. The staff is fantastic, and the food is excellent. Go to the fort, explore, take a walk on the beach, and when you are done, get the fried shrimp. She crab soup is fantastic; it's loaded with crab, just a little spicy, and so good! I have a slight problem with the salmon sandwich. The bread is too small. They pile on the fish; with the extras, it's just too much to eat like a sandwich. What they should do is punt the bread and make it a salad. But the fish is cooked to perfection, so it's still very good. I would absolutely Go back. ”
“ The Deadrise is a laid-back bar and restaurant near Fort Monroe on the water. Food is excellent and service is fun, friendly, and efficient. We started with an order of the She Crab Soup, which was large enough for us to share and was filled with crab and delicious! For entrees, we enjoyed the fish tacos, which were made of grilled mahi mahi today, and the salmon avocado BLT with crispy fries. Both meals were nicely seasoned. The BLT came in a hoagie type of bun, which was a little too much bread for me so I ate it as an open-faced sandwich, consuming only the top layer of the bun, which contained the avocado spread on it. Parking is in an open lot next door. You need to be able to climb stairs to the restaurant, as it's on the second floor. They also have a very nice outside dining deck. ”
“ My co-workers and I, party of four, wanted to finish up a long work trip by trying something new. We got to the restaurant around 8pm. It was not very busy, but to be expected with it being later in the evening. The service was not too bad, but was not phenomenal either. We ordered our food and it did seem we had to wait a while for our food, Once we got it and dug in, the food was delicious! I got the stuffed flounder, one got the fish sandwich, another got the seafood nachos, and the other got the shrimp basket. Be advised food prices are a bit on the higher side, but the amount and quality of food we got with our visit was good. I would also like to go back when it's warmer outside ant daylight to enjoy it he views. ”
